Simi was the last of four children to be born in Ojuelegba, a Surulere neighborhood in Lagos State. Simi stated during an interview with Juliet Ebirim of the Vanguard newspaper that her parents divorced when she was nine years old. She also disclosed that she was a tomboy growing up.
In Ikorodu, Lagos State, Simi attended Stars International College, a secondary school. She studied mass communication at Covenant University, where she graduated.

Simi’s Career
She began her career as a gospel singer and released her first studio album, named Ogaju, in 2008. In the 2022 season 7 of the television program Nigerian Idol, she also served as one of the top judges. After releasing “Tiff,” a song that was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015, she became well-known to the general public in 2014. Simi got a record deal with X3M Music in 2014. However, once her contract with the label expired in May 2019, Simi quit the company. On September 8, 2017, she made available her second studio album, Simisola. On April 19, 2019, her third studio album Omo Charlie Champagne, Vol. 1 was released as she celebrated her 31st birthday. In June 2019, she established her record label Studio Brat.
